Operation:UNITE dance workshops support personalized cancer care facilities and dance/movement therapy programming for children with cancer and special needs.
Operation:UNITE relies on the financial support of individuals, small businesses, and corporations to share our passion for unity through dance.. Your generosity brings a remarkably meaningful experience to children who rarely enjoy the freedoms of dance/expressive movement. It also plays a vital role in supporting the parents, friends and patients in the program.
Through dance, we are helping cancer patients nationwide lead longer and healthier lives. Every contribution gives us the chance to continue providing an important resource for our community, country and the world! To ensure no one misses this great marketing opportunity, we can help you design a sponsorship package that meets your individual needs.
Who knows your city better than you? We will connect with our supporters in the area but we need your help to reach the four corners of your community. Hold your own event or join forces with a neighboring studio to make a huge impact on the community. OU staff will work with you to create an eclectic and diverse line up.
Be a part of the movement from near or far! If you’re outside of the Los Angeles/Hollywood area, let OU staff guide you through hosting your own event and donate the proceeds to benefit our nationwide effort.
Our mission is to unite our communities and give hope to the families and loved ones who need our support. Participating choreographers and instructors continuously work on live tours, television, film, stage, commercial productions, and teach internationally. These and other artists donate their time to organize workshops for dancers of all levels. Workshops will be a monumental experience that is sure to inspire the lives of those who take part. Supporters worldwide can get involved by hosting their own event or simply donating.
Through dance workshops such as Operation:UNITE, our annual toy drives, and fundraising events, our efforts will help provide services to hospitals, schools, and private care facilities such as the Ronald McDonald House. Join us in bringing people from all walks of life together to fight against a disease that knows no color lines.
At the top of February 2012, I was invited to do a workshop for dance studios in Hawaii. Linda Kuo (Dancer's Unlimited) raised funding for the plane ticket, took me site-seeing, and provided room/board in her family home. We both wanted the area studios to have one big master class. Once we got the green light that we would have everyone under one roof, we started referring to that week as Operation:UNITE.
During some morning tea, Linda explained how her mother was now living in Shanghai receiving treatment for lung cancer. 2 weeks after the workshops, her mom passed away. 3 weeks after that, a friend of mine passed away from a brain tumor on his spinal cord at the age of 25. He battled it for 2 years. With a number of losses in and out of our community, we were encouraged to join forces to do a few classes in honor of them. Inspired by dancers who devoted their lives to educating people on the therapeutic potential movement offers, we wanted to create an expressive outlet that would empower people in every hospital, school, and private care facility in the world to keep dancing!
Once the word began to spread, studios across the country jumped on board to host master classes to benefit cancer treatment centers in their area. Now … there’s no stopping us!
Operation: UNITE will premiere its brand new video.
